DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has said policing must be modern and responsive to the rapidly changing global landscape to effectively address emerging security challenges.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the 10th batch (2024-25 session) of the Master of Applied Criminology and Police Management (MSCPM) programme at the Police Staff College Bangladesh.
The IGP said there is no alternative to modern knowledge, innovative thinking and professional competence in tackling complex threats such as cybercrime, organised crime, terrorism, financial and environmental crimes, the spread of misinformation and the misuse of emerging technologies.
He said the success of modern policing is measured not only by crime control and arrests but also by earning public trust, upholding the rule of law, protecting human rights, ensuring professional integrity and accountability and delivering quality public services.
