DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdelouahab Saïdani today distributed relief materials among flood-affected and vulnerable families in Satkania of Chattogram and Matarbari in Cox's Bazar, expressing solidarity with communities affected by recent flooding.
The relief distribution programme in Satkania was held at Keochia Muzaherul Haque Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in Keochia Union, where assistance was provided to families facing severe hardship due to the recent floods, said a press release issued by the Algerian embassy here.
During the programme, Ambassador Saïdani personally handed over relief bags containing essential supplies to affected residents and expressed sympathy and solidarity with the families.
He also underscored the importance of extending support to vulnerable communities during natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
Saïdani was the first foreign diplomat to visit Satkania and personally distributed humanitarian assistance among flood-affected people, describing his visit as a significant gesture of solidarity with the local community.
Following the relief distribution programme in Chattogram, the Algerian envoy travelled to Matarbari in Cox's Bazar, where he also distributed essential supplies among families affected by the flood.
Flood-affected residents expressed appreciation for the Algerian ambassador's humanitarian initiative, saying the assistance would help them meet their immediate needs and cope with hardships caused by the floods.
The initiative also reflected the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Algeria as well as Algeria's humanitarian solidarity with communities affected by natural disasters in Bangladesh, said the Algerian embassy.
