DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - The Directorate of Bangladesh Legal Aid Services 
has realized Taka 363.89 crore in compensation for insolvent justice seekers 
from 2009 to May 2026.

According to the directorate's monthly update published on its website, the 
statutory body under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs 
realized Taka 356, 86, 15,237 through its 64 district legal aid offices 
across the country while another Taka 7, 03, 11,916 was realized through its 
two labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The update said a total of 14, 87,663 people have received legal aid since 
the organisation's inception in 2009. Of them, 12, 20,044 beneficiaries were 
served through the district legal aid offices.

"A total of 2, 06,703 people received legal advices by calling on the 
national toll free helpline number 16699 while 30,696 people got the service 
from Supreme Court Legal Aid Office," it added.
