US-Bangla marks 12 years

DHAKA, July 17, 2026 (BSS) - Private carrier US-Bangla Airlines today completed 12 years of operations, entering its 13th year with a 25-aircraft fleet, services to 20 domestic and international destinations and an ambitious expansion plan targeting Europe and North America.

US-Bangla Airlines began its journey on July 17, 2014 by operating flights on the Dhaka-Jashore route with a Dash 8-Q400 aircraft. Over the past 12 years, the airline has emerged as one of the country's leading private carriers, said an airlines press release here today. 

"In today's world, there is no alternative to modern aircraft to provide proper service to passengers. US-Bangla is constantly adding new aircraft to its fleet to ensure comfortable service to passengers, " US-Bangla Airliners Managing Director Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun said marking the day. 

"In a competitive world, we are ready to take on any kind of competitive challenge," he added. 

As part of its fleet expansion programme, the airline plans to induct additional Boeing 737-8 and Boeing 737-800NG aircraft in the near future.

The airline also announced plans to launch services by 2027 to several destinations, including Dammam, Madinah, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kathmandu, Colombo, Johor Bahru, Penang and Hong Kong.

It aims to begin flights to London and Rome by 2028 and extend its network to New York, Toronto and Sydney by 2030.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, including three Airbus A330-300s and nine Boeing 737-800s, while maintaining an on-time performance rate of more than 90 percent since its inception.

US-Bangla now operates domestic flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur and Rajshahi.

The carrier launched its international operations on May 15, 2016 with flights between Dhaka and Kathmandu and has since expanded its network to Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and Guangzhou.

US-Bangla recently received the Best Domestic Airline Award for 2025, having also won the accolade in 2015, 2022, 2023 and 2024.


The airline said it was the first Bangladeshi private carrier established after the country's independence to operate direct flights to destinations in China, Chennai in India and Male in the Maldives.

The airline currently employs around 4,000 people at home and abroad.

US-Bangla operates more than 40 sales offices in Bangladesh and overseas.
