DHAKA, July 13, 2026 (BSS) – Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farida Khanom today said adequate relief materials have been stockpiled for people affected by floods in line with the directive of the Prime Minister.
"All relevant departments have been instructed to work in a coordinated manner to ensure the availability of food, safe drinking water, medical care, sanitation facilities and baby food at shelter centres. The administration is maintaining round-the-clock vigilance to ensure that no flood-affected family is deprived of assistance,” she said.
The Dhaka DC made the remarks while distributing relief materials among flood victims taking shelter at Dhamalkot High School in the capital's Bhashantek area today.
She further said the district administration is giving the highest priority to ensure that no one suffers from a shortage of food during the flood situation, adding,
"If any reports are received of a shortage of relief or of people being deprived of assistance in any area, immediate action will be taken."
Farida Khanom also said that, alongside the government, affluent members of society, voluntary organisations and various institutions should come forward to provide humanitarian assistance in responding to the disaster.
"Only through a collective effort can the sufferings of flood-affected people be alleviated," she added.
