DMP files 1,492 cases against traffic rule violations

DHAKA, July 8, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,492 cases against motor vehicles, owners and its drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.

The DMP's media and public relations division disclosed the information at a press release here today.

According to the release, DMP filed those cases and realized the money on Tuesday (July 7) through their regular drives against the traffic rule breakers.

Of the cases, Ramna division filed 73, Lalbagh division registered 95, Motijheel traffic division filed 156, Wari division registered 484, Tejgaon 
division filed 147, Mirpur division filed 120, Uttara division registered 220 and Gulshan division filed 197 against motor vehicles as well as three 
wheelers and motorcycles, it said.

A total of 301 motor vehicles were dumped and 313 were towed due to poor driving practices, the DMP release added.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," it said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
