CHATTOGRAM, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has formed a 101-member rapid response team to provide emergency services during incidents of waterlogging and disasters caused by heavy rainfall, landslides in hilly areas and tidal surges in the Karnaphuli River.
The announcement was made by the mayor at a meeting with volunteers of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society at the Chattogram City Red Crescent Society office in Tiger Pass today.
Under the committee, Md Ashraful Amin, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), has been appointed convener, while Golam Baki Masud, Secretary of the Chattogram City Red Crescent Society, will serve as member secretary.
The mayor said a 24-hour monitoring cell had been set up with the assistance of Red Crescent volunteers and that the rapid response team was prepared to respond promptly to any disaster or emergency.
