BARISHAL, July 7, 2026(BSS) - A young woman from Barishal has brought international recognition to the country by creating a paper snowflake in the fastest recorded time, earning a place in the Guinness World Records.

Nusrat Jahan Nipa created the paper snowflake by carefully cutting and folding paper into a snowflake-like design, completing the task in just 21.84 seconds. The previous record for the fastest paper snowflake creation was held by a Chinese participant, with a completion time of 23.16 seconds.

She achieved such Guinness recognition for three times in recent years.

“I achieved this record in February this year. Although the attempt was made earlier, I received the official certificate a few days ago,” said Nipa, a resident of College Road area of the city.

This is not her first time making headlines. In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nipa set her first Guinness World Record by building a tower with 71 coins using one hand in one minute. She broke the previous record held by Italian record holder Silvio Sabba.

Later, in 2024, she secured her second Guinness World Record by using chopsticks to pick up and eat 27 grains of rice within one minute.

A postgraduate in Chemistry from the Government Brojomohun (BM) College in Barishal, Nipa is currently working as a teacher at a private college.

Reflecting on her achievements, Nipa said, “Everything is possible through hard work and dedication. I have tried to bring recognition to my country and my city by pursuing creative challenges from home. I will continue my efforts in the future.”

Her father, Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu, expressed pride in his daughter’s success. “Nipa is my only daughter. Her success is not only a matter of pride for Barishal but for the entire country. We hope she will achieve even greater things in the future,” he said.
