DHAKA, July 07, 2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka district administration has recovered 13.08 decimals of Waqf land in the capital's Kotwali area by evicting illegal occupants.
The eviction drive was conducted today in accordance with an official order issued by the judicial branch of the deputy commissioner's office. During the operation, illegal occupants were removed from City Plot No 602 under City Khatian No 21 of Dhaka Mouza, within the Kotwali Revenue Circle. Following the operation, possession of the recovered land was formally handed over to the Waqf Administrator through due process.
The operation was directly supervised by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom.
According to the district administration, regular eviction drives are being carried out in line with government directives to free Waqf properties from illegal occupation. The latest operation was conducted as part of this ongoing initiative.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) of the Kotwali Revenue Circle, Md Shahriar Ashraf, led the eviction drive, while the Dhaka Metropolitan Police provided overall assistance.
Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom said, "Waqf properties, like other government properties, belong to the people. No individual or group will be allowed to occupy such properties illegally. The district administration's drive against illegal encroachers will continue in accordance with the law."
