DHAKA, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - Faruk Ahmed has assumed charge as the Additional Inspector General (Additional IGP) of Bangladesh Highway Police, a Police Headquarters press release said.

A 17th BCS (Police) officer, Faruk joined the Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1998. 

An Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate from RUET, he has served in several key units, including RAB, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Chattogram Metropolitan Police, CID, Bangladesh Police Academy, APBn, and UN peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Darfur. 

He also served as Superintendent of Police in Moulvibazar and Kishoreganj.

Promoted to Additional IGP on June 4, 2026, Faruk Ahmed has received professional training in Bangladesh as well as in India, China and the United.
