CHATTOGRAM, July 6, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram City Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain today said that Chattogram city is not experiencing waterlogging even during two days of continuous rain due to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s monitoring.
“Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is personally monitoring the issue of permanently resolving waterlogging in Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) area. He has formed a strong committee to work with all service organizations in Chattogram to resolve waterlogging,” he said.
The mayor made the remarks while inspecting several key areas of the city today. During his visit, he carefully assessed the actual conditions of rainwater drainage, the flow of water in canals and drains, the status of hazardous locations, and the progress made by officials and employees in fulfilling their responsibilities.
He said that building a waterlogging free Chattogram is one of CCC’s top priorities.
To achieve this objective, the officers and employees of the CCC's Conservancy and Engineering Department are diligently working round the clock.
Due to the regular maintenance of canals, drains, and ditches, the swift removal of obstacles impeding water flow, and continuous monitoring, the city has not experienced any significant waterlogging even after two days of rain.
The Chief Conservancy Officer, Chief Engineer of CCC, senior officials of the corporation, and relevant department personnel were present during the inspection.
