DHAKA, July 4, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 480 people and filed 60 cases during its regular anti-crime operations across the capital over the past 24 hours.

The highest number of arrests was made by the Mirpur (116), followed by Tejgaon (84), Wari (58), Uttara (50), Ramna (47), Gulshan (47), Motijheel (46), Lalbagh (25), while the Detective Branch (DB) arrested five suspects and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested two.

During the drives, police seized 7.488 kg of cannabis, 6,746 Yaba tablets, 3 grams of heroin, five bottles of Phensedyl, along with a private car, an ambulance, a motorcycle, five mobile phones, a vanity bag, and Tk 123,900 in suspected drug sale proceeds, said a police press release.

According to DMP, the arrests were made during coordinated operations conducted by police and detective units in different police station areas of the capital. 

Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway.
