DHAKA, July 4, 2026 (BSS) - The fire that broke out on the third floor of a five-storey building at Hazi Abul Basher Super Market, Chawk Mugoltoli, in the Chawkbazar area of the capital this afternoon, was brought under control with around two hours of intense efforts.

The fire was doused around 3:14pm, media officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Anwarul Islam confirmed. 
 
The incident was reported to the fire service at 1:34 pm, with the first responders from Lalbagh Fire Station reaching the scene at 1:46 pm.

Initially, two firefighting units from Lalbagh Fire Station began efforts to contain the blaze. Later, four additional units from Siddique Bazar Fire Station were dispatched to assist in the firefighting operation.

No casualties or the cause of the fire were immediately reported, he said.
