KHULNA, July 2, 2026 (BSS)- The investigation of the Omar Faruk Rabbi murder case has been shifted to Detective Branch (DB) of KMP after 39 days of the killing.
Rabbi, 26, a final-year student of the Technical Training Centre (TTC) at Phulbari Gate in Khulna was killed May 23 last.
Police said the case documents were formally handed over from Daulatpur Police Station to the DB on Wednesday morning following instructions from higher authorities.
Rabbi's family, however, expressed concern over the lack of progress in the investigation, saying police could neither unearth the motive behind the murder nor arrested any suspect so far.
Rabbi's bullet-riddled body was found in a shrimp enclosure at Khutir Ghat area of Kartikkul under Maheshwarpasha in Daulatpur on May 23, 2026. Before that he was missing for one day.
Former investigation officer of the case and OC of Daulatpur Police Station AFM Zahidul Islam said the Detective Branch would now conduct the investigation.
