DHAKA, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan
Police (DMP) has filed 1,988 cases against motor vehicles, owners and its
drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.
A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and
realized the money on Saturday (June 27) through their regular drives
against the traffic rule breakers.
Of the cases, Ramna division filed 120, Lalbagh division registered 215,
Motijheel traffic division filed 417, Wari division registered 121, Tejgaon
division filed 140, Mirpur division filed 492, Uttara division registered 292
and Gulshan division filed 191 against motor vehicles as well as three
wheelers and motorcycles, it added.
A total of 413 motor vehicles were dumped and 146 were towed due to
poor driving practices, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and
Public Relations Division) of the DMP.
"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the
release said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic
system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
