DHAKA, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 59 
people allegedly involved in various crimes during special drives conducted 
in different areas of the capital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations Division 
Niaz Mehdy issued a press release here today saying that the day-long drives 
were conducted on Saturday.

Among the arrestees, there was one non-listed extortionist. Police also 
arrested 23 people on charges related to terrorism, hijacking and robbery, 
and 35 others for alleged drug trafficking, a DMP press release said.

Police said such drives will continue to maintain public safety and law and 
order of the country.

Legal procedure is underway against them, the DMP releases added.
