CHATTOGRAM, June 26, 2025 (BSS)- Four individuals lost their lives due to 
exposure to toxic gas while working in septic tanks at two different sites in 
Raozan upazila of the district and Double Mooring area in the city. 
 
The incidents took place on Friday morning (June 26) in Dhanyalapara under 
Double Mooring Police Station in the city and Jhikutipara area of Noapara 
Union in Raozan upazila of the district. 

The two victims in Dhanyalapara were identified as Shakib, 28, from the Uttar 
Shunnokia area of Sadar upazila in Noakhali district and Hridoy Mia, 25, from 
the Char Elahi area in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali district. 
 
Conversely, the deceased in Raozan were Pradip Das and Samiran Das. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Double Mooring Police Station Shahinur Alam 
confirmed that on Friday morning, two workers, Shakib and Hridoy, were 
engaged in opening the centering of a septic tank at an under-construction 
building adjacent to Zakir Mansion in Dhanialapara. 

They succumbed to the toxic gas that had accumulated within the tank, dying 
on the spot. After a prolonged period without any response from them, local 
residents informed the police. 

Subsequently, the police retrieved the bodies and transported them to the 
morgue of Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy. 
 
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raojan Police Station Jasim Uddin 
reported that two construction workers perished while working on the septic 
tank of a house under construction owned by Ratan Doctor in Jhikuti Para of 
Noapara Union around this noon. 

The deceased were Pradip Das from the Kachukhain area of Raojan and Samiran 
Das from the Kadurkhil area of Boalkhali upazila. Pradip was the son-in-law 
of the house owner, Ratan Doctor. 

At approximately 12:30 pm, Pradip Das descended to work on the septic tank, 
where he was overcome by the toxic gas that had built up inside the long-
closed tank. 

When Samiran Das attempted to rescue him, he was affected too by the gas and 
lost consciousness. Being informed, the personnel from the Raozan Fire 
Service station intervened, rescued them and sent to the hospital.
