DHAKA, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 82 people allegedly involved in various crimes during special drives conducted in different areas of the capital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations Department Niaz Mehdi said the day-long drives were conducted on Monday.

Among the arrestees, there were one listed and one unlisted extortionist. Police also arrested 33 people on charges related to terrorism, hijacking and robbery, and 37 others for alleged drug trafficking, a DMP press release said.

Besides, Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate drives arrested 10 more people in different cases.

Police said such drives will continue to maintain public safety and law and order.
