DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - The 26th general meeting of the Bangladesh National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Armed Forces Division here today.
BNACWC Chairman and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman presided over the meeting, said an ISPR release here this afternoon.
A total of 43 military and civilian members from various ministries, departments, agencies and forces took part in the meeting.
The meeting emphasised effective implementation of the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Act, 2006, particularly regarding online registration of scheduled chemical substances-related activities and institutions producing non-scheduled standalone biochemical substances with BNACWC.
It also stressed prevention of illegal import and online trading of scheduled chemical substances, raising awareness on listing requirements, revision of listing fees, increasing the number of capable laboratories, and ensuring effective role of stakeholders in developing BNACWC software.
Speaking there, the BNACWC Chairman urged all concerned, including importers, users, customs authorities and law enforcement agencies, to play responsible and effective roles.
