BNP nominates Zabihullah as its representative for ICAPP’s Standing Committee member

DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - Ismail Zabihullah, member of the BNP Chairman’s advisory council and adviser to the prime minister with the status of a cabinet minister, has been nominated as a representative of the BNP for the Standing Committee member of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

BNP communicated the information to the Secretary-General of ICAPP through an e-mail message, according to BNP media cell.   

Earlier, BNP's Secretary General and Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir proposed Ismail Zabiuallah’s name as a member of ICAPP's Standing Committee on behalf of BNP.

Ismail Zabiuallah and BNP’s Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel will participate as BNP representatives in the 45th Standing Committee meeting of ICAPP, scheduled to be held from June 25 to 28 in Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia. 

Representatives from political parties across various Asian countries will exchange views on regional cooperation, political dialogue, democracy, good governance, development, and strengthening mutual understanding in the meeting. 

Earlier, former BNP Vice-Chairman late Abdullah Al Noman served as a member of ICAPP's Standing Committee from 2004 to 2005, and the current Minister for Information and Broadcasting Zahir Uddin Swapan served from 2006 to 2009.

ICAPP is an international forum of political parties from various Asian countries, established in 2000. Its objectives are to foster dialogue, cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust among political parties, and to play an effective role in promoting regional peace, stability, and development.
