DHAKA, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Md Nurul Haque today expressed deep shock and grief over the deaths of five Bangladeshi expatriates in a tragic road accident in Qatar.
In a condolence message, the State Minister said, “The sudden and tragic deaths of these remittance warriors, who contribute to the country's economy, are extremely painful. I pray for the forgiveness of the departed souls and extend my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families.”
The State Minister said the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has instructed the Labour Wing of the Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar to work with the highest priority to repatriate the bodies of the five deceased Bangladeshis to the country as soon as possible and ensure appropriate financial compensation for the affected families.
The accident occurred this morning in Qatar's Al Shahaniya area. The deceased expatriates were identified as Kader Ahmad of Gachhbari area, Jasim Uddin of Agataluk village, Jibal Uddin of Amarpur village, Mastak Ahmad of Majhtaluk village and Jubayer Ahmad. All of them were residents of Kanaighat Upazila in Sylhet.
