KUSHTIA, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - A truck driver and his helper were killed 
after a stone-laden truck overturned and caught fire on the Kushtia Bypass 
Road here on Sunday morning.

The deceased driver was identified as Anis, a resident of Faridpur district. 
The identity of the helper could not be confirmed immediately.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Highway Police Station Sekendar Ali said 
when the vehicle reached the Kushtia Bypass area, the driver reportedly lost 
control, causing the truck to overturn into a roadside field.

The overturned truck caught fire shortly after the crash.

Being informed, a team from the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the 
scene and brought the blaze under control. The body of driver Anis was 
recovered from the wreckage while the helper remained trapped under the load 
of stones. 

After a lengthy rescue operation, firefighters and rescue personnel recovered 
his body as well.

Both bodies were sent to Kushtia General Hospital.

Police said an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause 
of the accident. Legal proceedings related to the incident are currently 
underway.
