DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan today said all development and public service activities would continue with the support of city residents, regardless of any obstacles, challenges or conspiracies that may arise.
He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the "Exhibition of Actions Taken by Children and Youth for Child Protection", organized by World Vision in Mirpur in the capital.
The administrator said, "I have reached my current position after overcoming numerous obstacles during my 41-year political career. There will always be challenges in the path of good work, but we cannot remain stagnant; we must move forward. I believe we will eventually succeed."
Calling for the active participation of children, guardians and city dwellers in urban development, he said his commitment to supporting all good initiatives would continue.
The DNCC administrator also urged city residents to be more vigilant in preventing dengue during the monsoon season.
He requested everyone to help prevent mosquito breeding by regularly removing stagnant water from houses, rooftops, rooftop gardens and surrounding areas.
He said, "To implement the vision of 'Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka', the city must first be made clean, after which greening initiatives should be expanded further."
Praising World Vision for its role in child protection and support for vulnerable people in society, Shafiqul said more effective initiatives were needed for the welfare of children working in various modes of transport, including lagunas and rickshaws.
During the programme, he visited various exhibition stalls and highly appreciated the innovation, creativity and diverse activities demonstrated by the children.
The DNCC administrator said the media is playing an important role in disseminating awareness-building and development-oriented news for city residents.
He sought journalists' cooperation in properly highlighting the public service and development activities of the DNCC.
