DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - A two-member inspection team from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has visited three industrial facilities in Chattogram and Jamalpur districts.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate said this in a press release issued here today.
The inspection team visited Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited and Berger Paints Limited in Chattogram from June 3 to 7, 2026, it said, adding, "Subsequently the team inspected Jamuna Fertilizer Company Limited in Jamalpur on June 9 and 10."
The Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) provided necessary coordination and full support to ensure the successful completion of the inspections, the ISPR mentioned.
The OPCW representatives expressed satisfaction with the measures undertaken by the BNACWC and the Government of Bangladesh in implementing the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
After completing its mission, the visiting delegation departed Dhaka on June 13, it added.
According to the ISPR, the OPCW is an international organisation responsible for implementing the Chemical Weapons Convention worldwide.
Under Article VI of the CWC and Verification Annex 9, designated OPCW inspection teams conduct short-notice inspections of listed chemical industrial facilities in signatory countries to verify information related to the use and production of scheduled chemicals as well as the production of Discrete Organic Chemicals (DOCs), it added.
