NETRAKONA, June 13, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal has provided a newly constructed house to Nurul Amin, a double-amputee from Kalmakanda upazila who has been living in hardship since losing both hands in a workplace accident.

The house was formally handed over to Nurul Amin's family this afternoon, bringing much-needed relief and renewed hope to the family after years of uncertainty and difficult living conditions.

According to local sources, Nurul Amin, a resident of Barkhapan union in Kalmakanda upazila, had been working at a private factory in Dhaka to support his family. In 2021, he suffered a severe electrical accident at his workplace, resulting in the amputation of both hands.

After undergoing treatment for nearly a year, he returned to his village, unable to continue working. Since then, he has been struggling to support his wife and three daughters, largely depending on the limited assistance provided by his younger brother, Shamim Mia.

The plight of Nurul Amin came to wider public attention after journalist and content creator Abdur Rashid published a video on his social media page on May 21, highlighting the family's hardship and appealing for assistance.

The video quickly went viral and drew the attention of Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, who pledged to build a house for the family and ensured its construction within a short period.

Expressing his gratitude, an emotional Nurul Amin said, "Today, a safe shelter has been ensured for my children. I never imagined that someone would stand beside us in this way."

Speaking to BSS, President of Kalmakanda Press Club Sheikh Shamim praised the initiative, saying journalism has a responsibility to highlight the suffering of disadvantaged people.

"The sincerity shown by the Honorable Deputy Speaker in responding to the humanitarian appeal raised by journalist Abdur Rashid is highly commendable. Through the combined efforts of a public representative and a journalist, a helpless family has received a new lease of life. It is a shining example of humanity in society," he said.

Among others, HR Nazim, Zahirul Islam, Md. Soleman Haq and Hafez Maulana Emdadul Haq, along with local dignitaries, journalists and residents, attended the house handover ceremony.
