DHAKA, June 13, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,880 cases against motor vehicles, owners and its drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.
A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and realized the money on Friday (June 12) through their regular drives against the traffic rule breakers.
A total of 598 motor vehicles were dumped and 400 were towed due to poor driving practices, said NM Nasiruddin, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of the DMP.
Of the cases, Ramna division filed 120, Lalbagh division registered 215, Motijheel traffic division filed 483, Wari division registered 414, Tejgaon division filed 246, Mirpur division filed 621, Uttara division registered 418 and Gulshan division filed 263 against the motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles, the release said.
"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," it said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
