BARISHAL, June 13, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahsan visited Hizla upazila of the district today to inspect various government development projects and initiatives underway in the area.
During his visit, the minister inaugurated a tree plantation program in Hizla under the "25 crore Tree Plantation Project," a nationwide initiative announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman aimed at planting 250 million trees over five years.
Later, he reviewed and approved several development proposals, including the construction of a 1,000-seat auditorium within the upazila complex and the upgrading of Hizla Upazila Health Complex from a 50-bed to a 100-bed facility.
The state minister also held a discussion meeting with officials from different government departments at the upazila administration office.
Among those present were Barishal Deputy Commissioner Khairul Islam Suman, Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Faisal Ahmed, Hizla Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Iliyas Sikder, and Officer-in-Charge of Hizla Police Station Md. Solaiman.
Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations also attended the program.
