KHULNA, June 12, 2026 (BSS) - S M Shafiqul Alam Mona, president of the Khulna city unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has been appointed chairman of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA) on a one-year contractual basis.

The appointment was made through a gazette notification issued by the Contract and Foreign Recruitment Wing of the Ministry of Public Administration. 

According to the notification, Mona has been appointed under Section 7(1) of the Khulna Development Authority Act, 2018.

Before assuming office, he will have to sever all professional, business and employment ties with any government, semi-government, private institution or organisation, the notification said.
