SANGSAD BHABAN, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - A four-member parliamentary delegation,
led by Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP, will
leave Dhaka for Kunming in China's Yunnan Province tomorrow (Wednesday) at
the invitation of Yunnan Governor Wang Yubo.
The delegation will stay in Kunming from June 10 to June 13, 2026.
Other members of the delegation are National Citizen Party (NCP) Member
Secretary and MP Akhter Hossen, BNP MP Md. Khaled Hossain Mahbub, and
Independent MP from a reserved women's seat Sultana Jesmin.
On June 11, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal will deliver a keynote
address as the chief guest at the 7th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum
(CSACF), said a press release.
On the same day, he is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Wang Ning,
Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The meeting is expected to discuss various issues of mutual interest between
Bangladesh and China.
The delegation will also attend the opening ceremony of the 10th China-South
Asia Expo as invited guests and visit the Bangladesh Theme Country Pavilion.
On June 12, the Deputy Speaker will meet Yunnan Governor Wang Yubo to
exchange views on a range of bilateral issues, including increasing Chinese
investment in Bangladesh, facilitating imports, and expanding trade
relations.
During the visit, the delegation will tour the Second Affiliated Hospital of
Kunming Medical University and participate in a thematic sharing session
focusing on medical education and healthcare cooperation in South and
Southeast Asia, congenital heart disease treatment programmes, and China-
Bangladesh joint medical initiatives. The Deputy Speaker will deliver the
concluding remarks at the session.
On the final day of the visit, the delegation will visit the Future
Transportation Innovation Research Center.
According to an official release issued by the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat,
the China-South Asia Cooperation Forum is an important multilateral platform
aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties, enhancing mutual cooperation, and
expanding trade between China and South Asian countries.
The forum also seeks to promote regional connectivity, sustainable
development, poverty alleviation, trade liberalisation, and people-to-people
exchanges across the region.
