Bangladesh Ansar deploys personnel in frontiers

DHAKA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Ansar and VDP today said it deployed the para-police forces at frontiers in 11 districts to secure the country’s boundary coordinating with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops.

“The members of Ansar-VDP are working in coordination with Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the frontiers in view of the state necessities and security demands,” the para-police force said in a statement.

It said currently the Ansar and their affiliated village and town defence parties (VDP & TDP) members were mobilized to upazila levels in 11 northwestern, western, northeastern and southeastern bordering districts.

These are: Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Joypurhat, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Thakurgaon, Satkhira, Dinajpur, Sylhet, Jamalpur and Khagrachhari.

The statement said the Ansar authorities kept its battalions ready and alert to provide extra manpower responding quickly to calls if any such necessity arose.

It said the Ansar authorities last year inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BGB for the para-police forces engagement to strengthen coordinated border management.

It noted the Ansar-VDP engagement in border security management was providing effective support to paramilitary BGB and strengthened the national security framework.

“This resulted in enhanced surveillance in border areas, contributed to prevention of cross-border crimes and the protection of local communities through a coordinated and sustainable security mechanism,” the statement said.
