8 more children die from measles, measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - Eight more children have died of measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. 

During the same period, the total number of measles affected children was 1,185, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the release, 1,092 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 80,104 since March 15.

During the past 24 hours, 93 cases were confirmed as measles totaling the number to 9,779 since March 15.

A total of 65,237 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals since March 15 and of them, 61,278 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

One person died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from confirmed measles to 92.

Seven people died from suspected measles during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 536.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases has been reported in the Dhaka division, where 37,387 people have been affected. Of them, 6,794 cases have been confirmed as measles.
