DHAKA, June 08, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today showed former Barishal-2 lawmaker Shah-E-Alam arrested in a case filed over the alleged attempted murder of rickshaw-van puller Jabbar Ali during the 2024 July Mass Uprising.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and prayed to show him arrested in the case.
According to the case documents, on July 19, 2024, shots were fired in an attempt to suppress demonstrators in front of Confidence Tower in the Shahjadpur area under Gulshan Police Station. Jabbar Ali Howlader was injured in the shooting.
In connection with the incident, Jabbar Ali Howlader filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on December 11 of the same year against 109 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A mob apprehended the former lawmaker on September 14 and handed him over to Gulshan Police.
He has been in jail since then.
