DHAKA, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - As the second session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) is set to begin on Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has prohibited various activities, including meetings, rallies, processions, and demonstrations in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and surrounding areas from tomorrow.
This was announced today in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Md. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed.
Under sections 28 and 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. OOO/76), carrying all types of arms, explosives, harmful, and polluting substances will be prohibited in the designated areas from 12:00 midnight tomorrow until the conclusion of the second session of parliament, according to the notice.
The notice mentioned that during this period, no meetings, rallies, processions, demonstrations, or similar programs will be allowed in the relevant areas.
The areas under the prohibition include areas from the Mahakhali crossing on Mymensingh Road to the Old Airport and then to Banglamotor crossing; from the western end of Banglamotor Link Road to the SAARC Fountain on Sonargaon Road; from the eastern end of Panthapath to Farmgate via the junction with Green Road; from the Shyamoli intersection on Mirpur Road to the junction of Dhanmondi-16 (old-27) Road; from the junction of Rokeya Sarani to the old 9th Division (aircraft) crossing and then to the Bijoy Sarani Tourist crossing; from the eastern end of Indira Road to the western end of Manik Mia Avenue; the reserved area of the parliament building; and all roads and alleys within these boundaries.
