DHAKA, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - Climate Action and Justice Foundation (CAJF) has reaffirmed its commitment to climate justice, environmental conservation, and sustainable development on the occasion of the World Environment Day. 

At a virtual discussion held today to mark the day, leaders of the organization emphasized the need for a balanced approach between nature and development.

Speakers said that Bangladesh is recognized globally as a successful example in climate adaptation and disaster management. However, given the changing realities, there is no alternative to more far-sighted planning, environmentally friendly development strategies, and effective initiatives for nature conservation, they said, calling for protecting forests, rivers, wetlands, and biodiversity to be made a national priority.

The meeting expressed the view that the responsibility for protecting the environment does not rest solely with the government; rather, all stakeholders, including civil society, the younger generation, mass media, educational institutions, the private sector, and development partners, must work together. Simultaneously, it urged developed countries to rapidly implement their commitments regarding climate finance, technology transfer, and addressing climate-induced loss and damage.

CAJF Founder and Chairman Arifuzzaman Mamun said although Bangladesh is one of the countries, which is  largely victimized by climate change, its contribution to global warming is extremely limited.
