DHAKA, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - Ahmed Gani Chowdhury, elder brother of Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union (BFUJ) Secretary General and former Member 
Secretary of Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad Kader Gani Chowdhury, passed away today while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
 
He was 66.

He breathed his last at 10:43 am at Evercare Hospital in the capital, family sources said.

Ahmed Gani Chowdhury is survived by his wife, three sons, one daughter and a host of relatives, friends and admirers.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at 11:00 am tomorrow at the Shahi Maidan of Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram, according to 
family members.

Various organisations, including the Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Fatikchhari Press Club, 
expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ahmed Gani Chowdhury.

In separate condolence messages, the organisations conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
