FARIDPUR, June 2, 2026 (BSS) - Five people, including four members of the same family, were killed and two children were injured in a tragic road accident in the Maligram area of Bhanga upazila in the district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Malaysian expatriate Rakib Hossain, his mother Nur Jahan Begum, his sister Ayesha Akther, and his brother Arif Hossain of Baliadanga village in Jhikargacha upazila of Jashore district, and private car driver Zahid Hossain, son of Md Islam of Gouripur village in Monirampur upazila of the same district.

Shibchar Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) MM Mumtasir Mamun said Rakib had returned from Malaysia after 10 years. His relatives had gone to the airport to receive him. While they were returning to their village in a private car, the vehicle collided with a truck in the area, leaving five people dead on the spot and injuring two children.

The injured, Ashraful Hossain, 8, and Tasfia, 3, were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
