DHAKA, June 2, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque has expressed profound sorrow and grief over the death of Basana Azim, mother of Sheuli Azim, an experienced and dependable defender of the Bangladesh women's national football team.

In a condolence message issued today (Tuesday), the state minister said the news of Basana Azim’s death was deeply saddening. He noted that a mother's contribution to every stage of a child's life is invaluable and said the sacrifices, encouragement and inspiration of Sheuli Azim’s late mother played an important role in helping her become one of the country's leading footballers.

The state minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

He also stated that the loss suffered by Sheuli Azim and her family following the death of her mother was irreparable and prayed that Almighty Allah grant them the strength and patience to endure this difficult time.

The minister further assured that the country’s sporting community and the Ministry of Youth and Sports stand beside Sheuli Azim and her family in their time of grief.

It can be mentionable that Basana Azim passed away today (Tuesday) morning due to kidney complication at the age of 45.
