Largest Eid congregation held at Gor-e-Shahid Maidan in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, May 28, 2026 (BSS) - Country’s one of the largest Eid-ul-Azha congregations was held at the Gor-e-Shahid Boro Maidan in the town with enthusiasm and religious fervor at 8:30am today with the participation a massive number of devotees.

Gor-e-Shahid Central Eidgah Maidan spans nearly 22 acres of land. Devotee from Dinajpur as well as neighboring districts including Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari and other nearby areas gathered to offer Eid-ul-Azha prayers at this massive congregation.

The district administration and Dinajpur municipality authorities took all necessary preparations to ensure peaceful prayers for the attendees.

The municipality and district administration arranged ablution facilities, vehicle parking, medical teams, and drinking water for the worshippers.

More than fifty loudspeakers were installed at the Eidgah ground. In addition, 12 entry gates and three watchtowers were set up for worshippers entering the venue. Police personnel monitored the entire Eidgah ground from two watchtowers, while members of RAB monitored from another tower.

The Dinajpur District Police implemented a three-tier security system. As a result, the Eid prayers were completed peacefully and with due religious solemnity.

Devotees started arriving at the Eidgah ground well before 8:30 am on Eid morning. The prayer was led by prominent Islamic scholar and President of the District Imam Association Alhaj Maulana Md. Matiur Rahman Qasemi.

Dinajpur-3 MP Syed Jahangir Alam, Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Police Zedan Al Musa, Administrator of the Zila Parishad and President of District BNP Advocate Md. Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, Administrator of Dinajpur Municipality and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Riaz Uddin, along with leaders of BNP and its affiliated organizations, members of various political, social, and cultural organizations, as well as people from all walks of life including children, youths, and the elderly joined the congregation.

Meanwhile, the main Eid congregation of the Ahle Hadith followers was held at 7:30 am at the Dinajpur Ideal College field.

On the other hand, Eid congregations were also held at more than fifty Eidgah grounds and mosques across Dinajpur city, including Chauliyapatti-South Lalbag Eidgah Ground, West Patuapara Jame Mosque adjacent Eidgah Ground, Balubhanga Eidgah Ground, Lalbag Football Field, Iqbal School Field, Tafiuddin Memorial School Eidgah Ground, and Suihari Eidgah Ground. Outside the city, another large congregation was held at Cheradangi Eidgah Ground in Sadar Upazila.

After the prayers, special supplications were offered for the peace and prosperity of the country, the nation, and the Muslim Ummah.
