DHAKA, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed Awami Swechchhasebak League Dhaka South City unit president Kamrul Hasan Ripon and Awami League Jatrabari Thana unit general secretary Harun Ur Rashid Munna on a two-day remand each in a case lodged over the killing of Md Pervej Miah during the July Mass Uprising.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand in the case.
 
According to the case statement, Md Pervej Miah took part in the anti-discrimination student movement rally on August 5, 2024. 
 
He was allegedly shot and injured by the accused around 5:00 pm that day. He was first taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 
 
A murder case in this connection was filed with Jatrabari Police Station in the capital on October 29, 2024.
