Titas gas cuts 200 illegal domestic connections    

DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) – Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited (TGTDCL) today conducted separate drives at different areas in the country to identify and disconnect illegal gas connections.

During the drives, the natural gas distributing authority has disconnected illegal gas connections, recovered equipment and realized fine.

In Narayanganj, the district administration in a drive at Chandni housing in Fatullah has disconnected illegal gas connections of nearly 200 residential double burners of a commercial entity and 60 households.

A total of 265 feet MS pipe, 110 feet GI pipe, two star burners, 15 feet hose pipe and 10 lock wing cock have been seized during the drive. Even the authority fined a domestic consumer Taka 10,000.

Similarly, in another separate drive at Baluakandi and Anarpura area of Gazaria Upazila under Munshiganj, executive magistrate of the district administration Khalid Saifullah disconnected illegal gas connections at five spots. 

The illegal gas disconnecting team has also removed illegal gas connection source line installed at two abandoned lime factory, a hotel and restaurant, two driver hotels and a casting factory.

The team also recovered five star burners, one single burner and one double burner during the drive.

In Mohammadpur, executive magistrate of energy and mineral resources division Simon Sarker led a drive at Shahjalal Housing in Basila area in the city disconnected illegal gas connections of nearly 106 double burners and 18 burners. Three regulators, one booster and nearly 70 feet pipe were also recovered during the drive.

Gas connections of 13 double burners of seven domestic consumers connection have been disconnected following a joint drive by revenue and marketing division of the Titas Gas Transmission Company in Tangail.

The Titas gas authority will continue such drives across the country.
