DHAKA, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo at his ministry office here this noon.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, said a press release.
State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam was also present.
The Environment Minister highlighted the need for enhanced international cooperation to strengthen Bangladesh’s efforts in forest conservation and climate change adaptation. He particularly sought US support in areas such as waste management, water pollution, and air pollution control.
During the meeting emphasis was placed on technological assistance, training programmes, capacity building and investment.
US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen stressed the importance of coordinated initiatives on issues of mutual interest between the two countries. He also underscored the need to enhance bilateral cooperation in forest conservation and preventing wildlife trafficking.
Both the sides expressed their commitment to working jointly towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), conserving biodiversity, enhancing climate resilience, and building a green economy.
