DHAKA, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has conducted a nationwide drive, deploying 20 mobile courts to tackle the illegal stockpiling of edible oil.

During the drive on Thursday, authorities identified an abnormal stock of approximately 165,025 liters of edible oil hoarded across different parts of the country, said a press release. 

As part of the enforcement action, the mobile courts, led by executive magistrates, imposed fines totalling Tk 3.53 lakh on those found involved in the irregularities.

The drive was part of ongoing efforts to curb artificial shortages and stabilize the market supply of essential commodities. 

Officials stated that such operations will continue to ensure fair distribution and prevent price manipulation.
