SHERPUR, April 08, 2026 (BSS)- Election materials are being dispatched to the polling centres of the Sherpur-3 (Sreebardi–Jhenaigati) constituency from this noon ahead of the rescheduled parliamentary by-election tomorrow.
Parliamentary election in the constituency on February 12 last postponed following death of Jamaat candidate Nuruzzaman Badal.
District Election Officer Mohammad Jahangir Hossain said voting will be held tomorrow in a total of 128 polling centres across 17 unions and one municipality under the Sherpur-3 (Sreebardi–Jhenaigati) constituency.
Polling will begin from 9:30 am and continue uninterruptedly till 4:30 pm.
All necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a free, fair and participatory election and to maintain overall law and order.
To ensure a safe environment during the polls, 16 platoons of BGB members have been deployed in the two upazilas.
In addition, 10 teams of RAB will be on duty, while four more teams will remain standby as reserve forces.
A total of 26 mobile police teams will be deployed for the election. More than 200 army personnel will be patrolling the area.
Alongside, 14 executive magistrates, two judicial magistrates in the two upazilas, and three joint district judges under the Election Inquiry Committee will perform their duties.
The Election Commission has also appointed 18 observers. At each polling centre, five to six police personnel and 12 Ansar and VDP members will be deployed to maintain law and order.
