DHAKA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh 
(BGB) seized various types of smuggled goods worth over Taka 165 crore 76 
lakh 74 thousand in multiple raids conducted across the border areas and 
other parts of the country in March 2026.

"In BGB drives along the frontiers, a total of 112 smugglers were arrested 
for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking, including Yaba and other 
contraband items. 

Additionally, 82 Bangladeshi nationals, nine Indian nationals, and 317 
Myanmar nationals were detained for illegal border crossings, and legal 
action has been taken against them," said a BGB press release issued here 
this afternoon.

According to the release, the seized items include 465 grams of gold; 16,678 
saris; 6,056 three-pieces, shirt pieces, chadars and blankets; 6,994 ready-
made garments; 772 meters of fabric; 469,864 cosmetics; 9,239 pieces of 
imitation jewellery; 6,502,457 fireworks; 3,829 cubic feet of wood; 6,259 
kilograms (KGs) of tea leaves; 2,982-kg of betel nuts; 8,590-kg of coal; 
7,090 cubic feet of stone; 230 cubic feet of sand; 382 mobile phones; 11,900 
mobile displays; 70,081 pairs of glasses; 53,988-kg of cumin; 20,723-kg of 
sugar; 9,961 packets of food items; 2,309-kg of onions; 1,879-kg of garlic; 
1,940-kg of fertilisers; 1,614 packets of pesticides; 209,021 pieces of 
chocolate; 11 stone statues and one sandstone statue.

The seized vehicles include eight trucks/covered vans, 42 tractors/moon cars, 
17 pickup vans, three private cars/buses, two trolleys/microbuses, 20 CNG-run 
vehicles/easy bikes, 41 motorcycles, and 22 bicycles/vans.

Besides, recovered weapons include one submachine gun (SMG), one foreign or 
locally-made pistol, 13 magazines, 35 rounds of ammunition, two mines, and 
three other weapons, it added.

Meanwhile, the BGB also seized a significant quantity of narcotics during the 
month. These include 1,125,975 Yaba tablets, 845 grams of heroin, 12 bottles 
of LSD, 2,045 bottles of Phensedyl, 1-kg 790 grams of crystal meth (ice), 
8,129 bottles of foreign liquor, 170.5 litres of locally produced liquor, 
2,368 cans of beer, 1,133-kg 450 grams of marijuana, 124,840 packets of 
bidis/cigarettes, 183,661 narcotic tablets and injections, 4,665 bottles of 
Escafe syrup, 2,968 Anegra/Senegra tablets, 36,860 liquor-producing pills, 
and 2,144,152 pieces of various medicines and tablets.
