60 road projects to be implemented for city development: Ctg Mayor

CHATTOGRAM, March 3, 2026 (BSS) – City Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain today said that 60 more road projects will soon be implemented to significantly improve the city’s communication system.

He said the tender process for 42 roads has already been completed and work orders are awaited, while the tender process for 18 more roads is underway.

The mayor expressed hope that visible changes would come to Chattogram once the projects are completed. He made the remarks at the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony of the projects at Ward No. 8 Shulakbahar and Ward No. 7 Paschim Sholashahar this afternoon.

Highlighting his 16-month tenure, Mayor Shahadat said he is working to transform Chattogram into a clean, green, healthy, safe, and smart city. He referred to the ongoing road development initiatives and said the implementation of the 60 projects would bring noticeable improvements to the city’s infrastructure.

He also stressed the importance of keeping roads and footpaths clear for smooth public movement and warned against the illegal occupation of public spaces.

The mayor further emphasized the need to crack down on extortion and terrorism to ensure a safe environment for residents.

Alhaj Ershad Ullah, MP, called for public cooperation in development work in Ward No. 7 (West Sholashahar) and reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activities.

The event was attended by CCC Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, City BNP Joint Convener R.U. Chowdhury Shahin, City BNP member Faiz Ahmed, Executive Engineer Rifatul Karim, Mayor’s Personal Assistant Ziaur Rahman Zia, and local BNP leaders, among others.
