DHAKA, March 1, 2026 (BSS) - Fact-checking organisation Rumor Scanner has identified the claim that a pregnant female police member was killed during the July movement as baseless.

In a fact-check report, the Rumor Scanner investigation team said there is no evidence to support the allegation circulating online.

According to the report, 15 police personnel were found dead at Enayetpur Police Station in Sirajganj during the July Mass Uprising, but none of them was a woman.

The organisation said it has detected hundreds of instances of misinformation spread on the internet over the issue and reiterated its commitment to countering rumours, fake news and disinformation in Bangladesh by providing verified information to the public.

In a recent report, Rumor Scanner said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was subjected to the highest number of rumours (133 rumours) while the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) faced the highest number of rumours as a political party, with 360 identified cases.
