DHAKA, March 1, 2026 (BSS) - Mother of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita, MP, Huron Nahar Rashid, passed away early this morning while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

Huron Nahar Rashid breathed her last at Evercare Hospital in the capital in the early hours of the day (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un), said a ministry press release here. 

After completion of necessary formalities at Gulshan Azad Mosque, her body will be taken to Munnoo City in Manikganj.

The namaz-e-janaza will be held at Munnoo City before she is laid to eternal rest at the family graveyard beside the grave of her husband, former minister Harunar Rashid Khan Munnoo.

Family members and well-wishers prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and sought blessings for the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.
