CHATTOGRAM, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) - Chattorgram city mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain today said that late Abdullah Al Noman’s contributions to the development of Chattogram will always be remembered.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a Doa Mahfil organized by the Jamiatul Falah Mosque Complex Development and Musalli Parishad to mark the first death anniversary of BNP Vice Chairman and former minister Abdullah Al Noman at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque at Juma prayer.
He described Abdullah Al Noman as a shining star in Bangladesh politics and a legendary figure in BNP politics. He praised Noman's unwavering commitment to the democratic movement and highlighted his notable contributions during the Liberation War. Additionally, he commended Noman's efforts in business, infrastructure development, and education in Chattogram.
Noman's role in establishing institutions like Chattogram Veterinary University, Chattogram Education Board, East Delta University, and NMJ College to honor the memory of the martyrs of the ‘90 mass movements against tyranny, he added.
The people of Chattogram fondly remember Abdullah Al Noman for his various initiatives that benefited the community. Special prayers were held in his honor at a prayer gathering, where attendees sought forgiveness for his soul.
Prayers were also offered for the late President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, and wished for the well-being of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the Zia family. The prayer session was led by Maulana Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin.
Mohammad Abu Sufian, MP, and Abul Hashem Bakkar, former General Secretary of city BNP attended the function as special guests.
Abdullah Al Noman’s role in modernizing the Jamiatul Falah Jame Mosque Complex was highlighted, reflecting his commitment to fulfilling the vision of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
City BNP leaders and members of the convening committee, along with the Musalli Parishad were present at the event to honor Abdullah Al Noman's legacy.
