DMP files 1,493 cases for traffic law violations

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,493 cases against traffic law violators during drives conducted in different areas of the capital on Wednesday.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman disclosed the information in a press release on Thursday night.

According to DMP traffic sources, in the Traffic-Ramna Division, a total of 94 cases were filed, including against 4 buses, 1 truck, 3 covered vans, 9 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 32 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Lalbagh Division, 79 cases were filed, including against 4 buses, 8 trucks, 3 covered vans, 14 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 27 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Motijheel Division, 73 cases were filed, including against 6 buses, 3 trucks, 3 covered vans, 8 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 43 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Wari Division, 240 cases were filed, including against 17 buses, 36 trucks, 32 covered vans, 18 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 74 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, in the Traffic-Tejgaon Division, 92 cases were filed, including against 6 buses, 3 trucks, 9 covered vans, 9 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 38 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Mirpur Division, 439 cases were filed, including against 28 buses, 14 trucks, 29 covered vans, 46 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 222 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Uttara Division, 316 cases were filed, including against 32 buses, 19 trucks, 16 covered vans, 48 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 116 motorcycles.

In the Traffic-Gulshan Division, 158 cases were filed, including against 19 buses, 2 trucks, 2 covered vans, 9 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 52 motorcycles.

Additionally, during the drives, 290 vehicles were dumped and 157 vehicles were towed.

Police said that the Traffic Division of the DMP will continue its drives to maintain traffic discipline in the Dhaka metropolitan area.
