DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) –The newly appointed administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Md Abdus Salam today outlined four priority programmes to transform the capital into a modern, liveable and environment-friendly city in line with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s “Green City, Clean City” vision.
He announced the priorities at a meeting with senior officials and the waste management department at Nagar Bhaban here.
The four programmes are: extensive tree plantation and sustainable greening; restoration and dredging of canals to ensure natural flow; modern and scientific waste management and an effective, coordinated mosquito control drive.
The meeting was informed that a comprehensive action plan will be prepared within a week and submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
During the time, the administrator said modern technology, skilled manpower and regular monitoring would be prioritised for implementation.
With mosquito infestation rising in several wards, DSCC has identified high-risk areas and decided to form a strong monitoring team comprising senior officials, he said.
Public awareness campaigns will be strengthened involving civil society and ward representatives, he said.
Authorities warned that mobile courts will be conducted and legal action will be taken if mosquito larvae are found in the area due to negligence.
Abdus Salam said the city corporation is a service-oriented institution. The corporation remains liable in fulfilling the citizens’ rights. He said that any form of negligence will face strict action.
He also announced that all DSCC civic services will remain fully operational from today.
Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain visited DSCC’s central mosquito control chemical warehouse at Dholaipar, accompanied by the administrator.
The minister expressed satisfaction and directed officials to maintain the standards of mosquito control chemical manufacturing.
